I personally feel like they couldn't have added the adult link mask without gatekeeping certain items in the game behind it. Like in OOT how some items cant be used by child link, they would have to rewrite the formula of the game to follow this as well. Just as you said tho, the zora mask is similar to adult link so doing this might be weird.
